Again more pictures 4th post

Left to right
Shag Bark Hickory 7 ½ x 2 1/2 Tung Oil It was wet and I turned it all the way (no drying method). Waited till next day to sand. Wrong. It was so warped already I couldn’t power sand it and had to do it the hard way. But it turned out to be one of my favorites the way it warped.

Now you are getting into some interesting pieces! I do like both of these - first because of the wavy edge and the second one because of all the grain variations! Nice finish on both of these!

I love the floppy hickory, I've tried several times for that wild warp. and they either crack or look better than ones i've dried. That looks great. I'll give some hickory a spin and see what I end up with.

What they said. What you thought was a problem ended up the feature of the piece. Ain't wood great, especially those pieces. Nice job.:)

First off, beautiful pieces.. Second, our club is having a demo on turning hats by Mr Thompson,the tool guy.:) The floppy edges just made just made me think of that.:rolleyes:
