But here it is anyway. I got inspired by you guys and got the mag. I made it with a bad piece of birch that had a crack, I started as an experiment but I ended up liking it.
I tought of a way to make it so the whole thing would not come out tossing all the tooth pick out of the container.
I'll try to make one this week end and report back to you.

Beautiful! What's interesting is if you hadn't said what it was to give someone a sense of size, it appears to be a large piece. When you get to the last picture it does pleasantly shock you that it's really something much smaller when you see the toothpicks. Great work!

Good job! That is a nice lookin' toothpick holder, I love the finial design (I have a problem coming up with ideas for finials). And remember... the crack is not a flaw... it is there to add to the "rustic charm" ;)
