A recent message by Fred Krueger reminded me that as a newcomer, I was lost by a lot of the jargon floating around the forum in the form of TLA's (two (and three) letter acronyms). I was really scratching my head the first time someone said they did an NE HF finished with BLO.
I've caught on to them eventually, but thought it might be a good idea to have a "sticky" reference guide to help newcomers navigate the community.
To wit, I'll begin - please add any I may have missed:
SMC - an easy one: SawMill Creek
DNA - DeNatured Alcohol (used in accelerating the drying of green wood)
BLO - Boiled Linseed Oil (a finish)
NE - Natural Edge (a turning with a rough natural rim, such as bark)
HF - Hollow Form
CA - CA glue (cyanoacrylate - a "super glue" formulation)
What have I missed?
And don't even get me started on this condiment obsession! (how come nobody has a "ketchup"?!) ;)
