About 6 months ago someone gave me 2 twin oak beds. It was about 15 years old. The parts sat outside for 2 weeks and had been rained on a few time and then spent the next 6 months sitting in my shop. All the pieces were just over 3/4" thick and it yielded a little more than 7 board feet of 5/4 wide, 11/16 thick face frame material for my shop cabinets.
I was shocked to find how little the wood had distorted. Only took off 1/16th to make it flat on both sides.
