DP Speeds

Just finished putting together a JDP-17MF in my garage. I was wondering what wisdom I could gleen from you guys regarding bit speeds. Does anyone know of a guide for bit speeds. I woud assume bit size, and material being drilled would influence which speed to select. Any input would be appreciated.

i'd be interested in the responses to this post. ive got an old powerkraft that's about 6 1/2 feet tall. variable speed DP, router and shaper it says. it has speeds of 500-3000 rpm for DP and 4000-21000 for routing.

a more in depth guide would be nice.

So far, I've been running everything at the slowest speed. Some holes take a little longer, but not much. I don't know if there is any other advantage to running at higher speeds. But I like the sound at the slow speed, more chunka chunka.

I just bought the same DP from a local guy cleaning out a warehouse. It's missing the handle, but the folks at ToolKraft have one to send to me, along with a key and manual. Have you used the shaper/router attachments? Worth me buying?

I was surprised as well that Jet does not provide any guidelines. Nothing in the manual and nothing under the belt hood... :(

I have not used those attachments. but i might pick them up if i knew where to get them. im going to look up toolkraft now. do you have their web address?

i was wonderig how to use that thing in those capacities.

They no longer have the router attachment, but I ordered the manual and shaper attachment, along with the handle that I needed. They are very responsive to e-mails, but are only open for phone calls Wed & Thurs 9-5 EDT.
