A lot of us use BLO in wood finishing but I also have it for breakfast.
Not the boiled form, the cold pressed organic type that is known as
Flax oil. This stuff will put a great finish on your skin. put a bounce
in your step and lead in your pencil. It's loaded with Omega 3.
It's about the best thing you can do for yourself.

I dump about a teaspoon of Bob's Red Mill Whole Ground Flaxseed Meal in my oatmeal every morning. Good source of protein, fiber, lignans, and the Omega-3 fats as you describe. Good stuff, good flavor.

I recently made a batch of brownies where I used the Flaxseed Meal to replace vegetable oil. They came out, uh, interesting tasting but I think the flavor is growing on me. :)

Could you just partially replace the veggie oil and still get the benefit without the off taste? Actually, do any of those benefits you mentioned bake away anyhow?

I think you could. The bag claims:

Ground Flaxseed can be substituted for shortening or cooking oil at a ratio of 3 to 1 in baked goods. For example, 1 1/2 cups of ground flaxseed can replace 1/2 cup of butter, margarine or cooking oil in a recipe.

I did that in my brownies and since the flaxseed is kind of dry (but oily), it really gave my forearms a workout mixing it all in. It also definately adds a nutty-like flavor that isn't too bad. I think next time I would only replace half of the oil in the recipe and not all of it.

I kinda doubt the "goodness" would bake away but I'm no expert in regards to this....

Buy fresh refrigerated Oil in a health food store and keep it cold.
If the oil develops a strong taste put a spot of dryer in it and use it
For wood finishing
I have never cooked with it, I’m not sure it keeps its health properties.
I put a tablespoon of oil on my two jumbo eggs for breakfast. The oil soaks
Into the yolk. I know your Doctor told you not to eat eggs. The Doctors
That told me that are all dead. I have been eating eggs everyday for years and at 83 I am doing fine. One of my VA doctors told me not to be afraid of making long-term investments. He thought I had Money.
While I am on this health kick let me remind you guys and gals to take vitamin D.
I was taking 1000 units a day until my other VA Doc said I needed more.
It takes away winter time blues, makes your bones strong and disappears
mysterious aches and pains.
Gotta go wax my skis. Get out there a look for blond thoroughbreds.:)
Bob

Have you ever wondered why guys know more about sports than their own bodies?
