what finish over a photograph.

This may seem like a strange question, but has anyone ever tried to use polyurethane or any other kind of finish over top of a photograph. I know I have seen it, but not sure what kind of finish it is. I would think some finishes could damage the photo.

There are special coatings for this. You might check with a 3-M supplier, sign supply, something on that line.
