Guys I would like to enlist your help. My wife and I are trying to add a pantry to our exist kitchen, but what the company offers won't fit where we would like to put it. So I would like to try my hand at making the pantry, and also since the latest episode of NYW covered this exact topic, I have been inspired! Problem is, I can't find the bits that I am looking for to do this, or maybe it is just my inexperience. Here is what the cabinet doors and drawers look like:

Is the black arrow one router bit, or a maybe a couple used to make this same look? Also, I think the red and green arrow can be the same router bit, would you agree?

Thanks as always.

PS. I looked through my Infinity catalog and couldn't find anything that resembled this.

Most likely those profiles were made with a shaper, so I doubt there is a router bit that matches. Just google custom router bit and you'll find places that do it. Not cheap though.

Darn, that is what I wasn't wanting to hear. Maybe I can come up with something that looks "close enough." These cabinets will be on a seperate wall, so an exact match won't be very noticeable.

The finger pulls (red and green arrows) are easily cut with a seperate bit. The door inside edge profile (black arrow) looks similar (but not identical) to the "Atherton and Woodside" profile here:

Perhaps it would be best to have the cabinet company you mentioned make a set of custom doors using the profile cutters they obviously have. Or go to a door company that can match the profile for you. And you can build the custom carcass to your specs.

By the time you buy the cutters, you could likely have bought the doors. Not only is it hard to match the profiles, it is also hard to match the stain color - yet another reason to go back to the original cabinet company.

Ben, I just did a bathroom storage cabinet for a customer and it looks like the same outside edge profile...... I used two different bits one was a raised panel bit and the other was a round over bit. It looks like you might have a slight cutback on your edge, If so you can.(If you have a router table or shaper) get this cut by using a spacer to lift your stock up by the bit. you might have to use two spacers If the door / drawer is are too long to get the same bevel on all edges.) E-mail me if you need more information Dale

You might check Conestoga Woodwork (door specialist) or Rockler's custom door program if the original company cant help. They both offer lots of choices. A lot of the big companies use a 4-7 head molder to make those parts, tough to get it right with a router even in multi passes.

I can actually get the cabinet doors seperately from any Lowe's or Home Depot, they are made by Quality Doors. I was just thinking that I could maybe make them myself a little cheaper. I guess that I will look into purchasing the doors. I can also get veneer to match the doors that I can apply to my carcass, it should be pretty easy to do, I was just thinking that after doing it that way, I am not going to save much money, if any. I guess that I will have a custom pantry cabinet though...

Last time I asked LRH about a custom router bit it was about $200 IIRC. Probably less expensive to just buy the doors.
