Just finished up a carving in the round project for a customer who purchased a clock with a missing pediment. The replacement is inspired by (or a total rip-off of) Chippendale's Cabinet Maker's Director plate #CLXIV. I believe he will want the draped linen urns as well, but that's going to have to wait a while. Color matching isn't my strong suit, but I'm pleased with the look overall. In addition to the new top, had to replace side fretwork/silk and several missing / busted up moldings. I'm interested to hear your thoughts? Is the color close enough? Does it look like it belongs? Not that I'm changing things now, but at least it will allow for some preparation before final delivery Saturday. Here it is before: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n113/jficke/clk_pediment/before_web.gif And after: http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n113/jficke/clk_pediment/final-005_web.gif http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n113/jficke/clk_pediment/final-041_web.gif

Ron said exactly what I was thinking. I really does look like it's original to the piece. Very nicely done sir! ;)

Joel,

From what I can see from the photos, your color match is excellent. As usual, I am blown away by your carving, it mimics the best of 18th century work. It is always devoid of all the wavering, roughness and unsuredness that I get from my own hand, your work is something to aspire to. Great choice on the design from Chippendale, it looks very appropriate for this ornate clock. Later, Cal

I keep coming back to this. I had to look twice to see what you added. Perfect match as far as I can see. I've thought about trying my hand at carving...now I see there is no point.:D

Outstanding work!

The first 2 times I looked I thought they were pictures of different clocks, the far better one being the bottom one. I would never have known that top was added if you didn't tell us.
