I had seen this piece of figured Tulip at the store... just big enough to do a pen. ... So here it is...

Yup, that's a pen. And a very nice one, too! A few years ago, one of the very first pens I turned was from Tulip Wood. My mother still uses it. It turns well and is visually nice for this application.
