what is the best way to finish large amounts of knotty pine? I am thinking about buying a hvlp graco 3800 pro comp. Do these work very well and if not any advice would be appreciated.

by the way the price on the 3800 is 600.00 and the unit looks like new, is this a good deal or not?

Do you mean finishing the pine before installation or after? What finish do you intend to spray?

I am going to seal it in my pole barn before installing it in the house. I would like to get a nice smooth look.

A furniture kit company Called Cohasset Colonials marketed a penetrating stain sealer especially for pine. It had a color just about like the color pine acquires over time. It was made for them by Butcher's Wax. I have no idea how to find this if it still exists, but Cohasset Colonials still exists; so maybe it would be possible.

This was a wipe-on product.

Personally I would use gasoline and matches, but thats just my opinion. I'm not a big fan of the knotty pine look. Please don't take any offense. ;)
