Prices of thinner

A few weeks ago, I restocked my paint and lacquer thinner supply and was mildly shocked about price increases. I used to buy mineral spirits for less than $3.00 a gallon-now it is over $6.00. I bought lacquer thinner for less than $7.00 and now it is almost $12.00. I know I haven't bought for a while but am I the only one that has seen a big price increase lately?

Well...most are petroleum based products. That combined with potential extra costs to the manufacturer due to VOC regulations as well as shipping costs...is likely why you're finding your price up.

I get my lacquer thinner from an auto paint store at $5.12 per gallon in a 5 gallon can. Maybe it is time to shop?
