Hey Per,
How about a manicure to go with the pumps and purse? :D
We bought our 6 year old boy a dog for his b-day. We decided on a "Puggle" (1/2 pug and 1/2 beagle). I'm not a small dog person by any stretch, only little dog I ever was attached to was a Boston Terrier.
I can tell you this... the boy got the dog in September when the puppy was 7 weeks old. I couldn't bring myself to leave the teenie tiny puppy at home then... and now over 6 months later I've still got said puppy underfoot at the day job 5 days a week. He keeps my chair warm when I leave my office, always greets me with a "smile" unlike anyone else I work with ... barks at the UPS guy, humps the Fed Ex guys leg, eats the lunch my boss drops under his desk (and usually gets on his shirt but we like to laugh at that)... ya know all that good stuff.
I'll admit it... I love the little pooch as much as the kid does. And "cute" is probably as common in your vernacular as mine, but our little Rudy is a cute little dog as is Sue.
Although I see no problems with being cranky regardless of having a dog or not, just my wife @ me .

Cheers.
Greg

Big mean tough guy with a little tough dog. Dachsunds are fearless little guys.
They're also cooler than cool.;)

A little dachsund story for you, and absolutley the truth.

"The Weenie Dog Sprint"

Used to have a tuesday nite bike training ride here. A real death march. 50 miles of peddle 'til you puke, suck it up and go, or go home alone.
Right about the 30 mile mark was a series of rolling knee breakers, that ended with a sharp left up a hill around a blind curve.
At the inside of the curve, before you could get back on top of your gear were the "Weenie Dogs".
We'd get to that curve and about 6 or 8 dachsunds would break through the ferns and start to chase us up the hill. 10 guys on bicycles, swerving and sprinting to avoid the dogs and 6 or 8 little yapper's raising hell. It was comical. Hence the name."The Weenie Dog Sprint".
I miss those dogs.

Dachsunds are cool, and she's adorable.

The original full sized dogs originally were bred to go into a badger hole and harass it out. Dachshund translates to "Badger dog"

Anything spawned from that can't be to much of a whimp. I'm not sure I would go into a badger hole unarmed.

Hounds aren't like regular dogs. She may be small but I bet she will be tough as nails when she grows up.

I think your man card is safe.

Lovely pup, Per. Bring her to Savannah next October and enter her in the Weiner Dog Races. She might still be a little young to take home the speed trophy, but she'll win the beauty competition paws down!

Congrats on finding unconditional love in a female. She looks like a real sweetie!

Un huh, and you'd be different?? :D

Man card is not at stake when it comes to dogs, only cats...

Beasty used to work at a boarding kennel where some of the sports figures would bring there dogs, I was there when one of the Vikings linemen showed up with their poodle, after fawning over his dog for a bit he finally left it, considering he was twice the size of the 4x4 3/4 ton truck he got into, I sure as heck wasn't gonna ask for his man card..:D

When we got our first dog, I told Beasty ain't no smelly stinking dog gonna be climbing over our furniture, 2 days after we got the little gal, wife came home to find the puppy and I asleep on the couch...:)

Take my man card if you must, just keep your hands off my dog. :)

Good to hear your bonding with the puppy Per, shows there is a heart under all that gruff, you'd be welcome at my home anytime, just don't show up in a mini van please... :D:D

OK

Check this out.

You Folks are on to something here.

Today, Sue and I, well really Sue, but they

were addressed to me, received 3 Valentines Day

Cards.

These are the only Valentines day card, gift, or spoken

Sentiment I have received in 24 years.

Made feel all soft and squishy.

And no they didn't come from my kids.

This is bad.

Why?

At my age, trollin the mall with Sue in one of those doggy packs

shouldn't sound so appealing:p

I have taken the liberty to start to training “Little Sue” as an attack dog.
With my grandson’s German Short Hair Pointer I plan to have a
Hi-low Team. I can’t imagine who the enemy is but it seems like a good idea. You never know! So far I have kept the attack command secret, Sue doesn’t even know It. Next I need to find some fat ankles, mmmmmmm, maybe that nasty lady down the street. I can say Per made the suggestion, she hates him
This is Fun.

I felt the same way about my buddies Pug. But once I met that dog, it was like the nicest, cutest, funniest dog I have ever seen. It's like it knows when you want to play, and when you want to just sit and watch tv. And hardly a dog to be scared of when kids are around. Small dogs are not as bad as I used to think...except Jack Russell Terriors. Cute dogs, but are they a hand full.
