Looks good. I plan on doing one much more elaborate. Planning being the key word.

Dan, looks great. Please tell us a little more about construction; type of wood, finish etc. I know you wanted to get it done before moving. Good luck with that and .... Thank you for your service.

Great job Dan, looks very clean and functional. Was it your own design or did you get the idea for the style elsewhere?

well, its all white oak, my own design, and waterlox finish.

all dadoes and mortise and tenon on the leg/rail panels. 3/4" ply, 1 1/8" x 2" rails, 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" legs.

desk is 6 foot long 27" wide. return is 3' 3" x 21". Hutch is 3' 6" tall, 5' 5" long, and 13" deep.

hutch has through wedged mortise and tenons for the dividers. (sagproof.)

keyboard tray, two full file drawers on desk and one file drawer, two letter drawers and a pen drawer on return.

1/2" wide x 1/4" deep rabbet on side of drawers for fingers to open.

horisontal grain orientation is deliberate. (its plywood panels so movement does not matter there.... tradition is no longer a neccessity)

grain orientation accentuates clean lines, rails etc.

cheers,

dan

There you go. Thats a nice desk.

I have one similiar design, but this one is cheap pressboard from the store. Had it quite a while and its seriously wore out.

If your interested in a even trade let me know. I'll pick up and deliver ;) lol.

Nice job.

Very nice set up Dan. I really need to do something like that. May steal some of the design for someday in the future.
