Howdy,

Got my GRR-Rippers this week!!!

When I was working on the router station, I had to rip a bunch of 1/4" edge banding and I felt really naked trying to do it without the overarm guard and using only push sticks. I needed to rip more today and all I can say is WOW. The GRR-Rippers are great!!!. Nice clean rips and my heart didn't speed up to 300 beats a minute while I was making the cut!!

I used them on the router table as well. I needed some 1/2" quarter round to trim inside the coffee table. I think they will be a real asset to the router table as well. I felt much safer and more comfortable using them instead of my old shop made pushers. I especially like the little hook on the bottom of the GRR-Rripper for the router table. Much nicer to have absolute control of the work!!!

If you don't have any yet, I suggest that you get a couple. They are quite an improvement over anything else I have ever used.

Terry,

Didn't realize they could be used on a router table.

Bob,

I didn't either until I got the DVD From Micro-Jig. There are many more uses than just the table saw. The DVD is 2 hour long!!!! Because of my overarm, I will most likely use them on the router table more than on the TS.

Mega dittos, Terry. I hadn't used mine on the router table as you have yours set up. On the dvd it shows using a little block of wood on the back held in place with a bolt in the tslot. I like your way better. Also, I really like using mine on the bandsaw for resawing.

Stan,

Don't know about better, just different. I saw the little hook demonstrated on the video and I thought I would give it a try. Worked great. I'll have to make a plywood sacrificial one like they showed in the DVD and give it a try as well.

I'm really impressed with the GRR-Rippers for sure. I procrastinated about getting them because of the TS guard and their cost, but I'm SUPER glad I got them. I can see all kinds of machine operations being much safer now. Well worth the money in my book. I only wish I had bought them earlier.

I told you!!! That you needed a pair of those.!!!!
I use mine more now in the shop and my old push sticks stay on the shelf and the GRR-Rippers swing into action. I especially like the hold they put on wood, the control of the cut AND most of all....hands and fingers are a LOT further from the cutters that ever before..... :D

d,

I know....I know...you were right on on this one for sure!!! I just could not imagine that a hunk of plastic would be worth $70, but they darn sure are.

Thanks for the heads up.

I could have used the Grippers while template routing ealrier today...might have prevented the minor (but scary) kick-back I experienced. I will place my order for the Grippers and the splitter on Monday. Definately money well spent.

Hey Terry and all....

Where can I find these for sale on the web? I know that we had a group sale on them here on the fourm a short time ago, but I dragged my feet and it looks like it's gone.

Looks like I really should pick up a pair.

Thanks,
/Kevin

I have been using my GRR-Rippers to rip wood and Corian making pen blanks lately. Fantastic!

Terry,

I think you and the rest of the gang have convinced me. I've been reluctant to buy because of the overarm blade guard and the potential difficulties posed by using them with the guard, but everyone who bought them seems super-happy with them. Thanks for the post. Dave.

Dave,

I found that www.woodworkingathome.com (SMC's own Chris DeHut) is offering the DVD for free with your GRR-Ripper order. Glenn is exactly right, the DVD is well worth the regular price of $10, but getting it for free is even better!!!

Here's the link:

Thanks for the post. Dave. The GRR-Ripper system was chosen by Woodworking at Home Magazine as product of the year because of it's innovation and application on a vareity of machines. Not only does it make many cutting operations easier and better to perform, it also makes them much safer.

For anyone looking to purchase them, we are now selling them off of our website

We include a the instructional DVD free of charge too!

Answer to question where to buy.
Rockler and Woodcraft sell them in their stores.
rockler has the basic model and upgrade kit and Woodcraft only sells the full feature model. No DVD's or splitters seen at the stores.

I picked up the GR-200 at woodcraft during the last 10% off promo. The two guys at checkout weren't too familiar with the system, but seemed to think I had more money than sense. I chose them based on several good reviews on the web, and because I liked the look and feel of them. I will be ordering the DVD and the MJ splitter this week.

Thought I might as well chime in with my "thumbs up" for the GRR-Ripper, too. I've used mine for a couple of weeks now on the table saw and router table. I REALLY like them.

I feel that I have a lot more control on both the table saw and router table. Like Dennis indicated, the rubber material on the sole of the GRR-Ripper really does "grab" the workpiece so that you can hold it firmly.

Hi Mike,

You are right on the mark - the GRR-Rippers give you the control over the workpiece whereas every other type of push stick I have tried fails misserably at!

On both the table saw and on the router table, control of the work is key to safety.

And don't forget, a wipe with a little denatured alcohol now and then will keep them that way.
