Jet Proshop:riving knife

I have a brand new (in box) jet proshop and it did not come with a riving knife. Is there an after-market riving knife that will fit this ts? Where can I get it?

The specifications for the ProShop do not mention a riving knife. Due to the way that riving knives function, you really cannot retrofit one to a machine only designed for a simple splitter.

I was under the impression that the 2008 Proshop had a riving knife that was included with the saw. Mine was manufactured in 2007, so I thought that the specs would not be so different that a riving knife would work (ie if the riving knife was sold seperately).

I just visited the Jet web site prior to my previous post and found no reference to a riving knife for that particular saw. Not that any web site is a definitive source of information...LOL! :D

Only the 2008 Jet DELUXE Xacta line of cabinet saws come with riving knives.

The Proshop hybrid saws do not, and are not advertised as being available with riving knives. The splitter on it does resemble a riving knife somewhat, but it is not a riving knife.

Ohh, I guess you all are right. No wonder I could not find it on any website including the Jet website. One of the other threads mentions the 2008 Proshop with riving knife...so I just assumed it to be true. My fault!

So, have you tried the saw out yet? What do you think? (and when did you place your order? I've heard that they are currently back-ordered through March)

On the riving knives, I've read rumors (woodnet (http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Number=3423822) and consumersearch (http://www.consumersearch.com/www/house_and_home/table-saw-reviews/)) that proshops with riving knives will be coming out in late 2008.

No. I havent had time to set it up but I am looking forward to it (I have read the instructions though). Yeah, somebody alluded to that fact (proshop riving knives in 2008) in another thread.

I contacted Jet customer service and they expect the Proshop line with riving knives in late 2008. Around Sept if I recall correctly.

Anyhow they are in the works but who knows when they will actually ship.
