I'm going to be in central Iowa at the end of the month, and I'm wondering if there are any good mills/suppliers in that area? I would be able to bring a load of lumber back to my seriously undersupplied and overpriced neck of the woods. Any of you guys from Iowa willing to share leads?

We get our hardwoods from Liberty Hardwoods at Ankeny, IA.

You might touch base with Buttermore Lumber in Odgen, IA Phone no. (515) 275-2011. They are a privately owned business. It used to be a sawmill, but I don't believe they operate as such anymore. Their oak is kiln dried, surfaced 2 sides. I haven't been there for several years; understand they shut the sawmill down.

You might want to check out the Woodsmith folks while you're there. No wood, but what the heck.

Steve:
I have a local that has a sawmill and kiln. He usually has burr oak "white Oak" that is kiln dried.
A lot of it has knots and bad sections that need to be cut around when using. Price is $2/bf for the good part of the board. He is located at Fairbury NE.
PM me if you need more info.
