The bowl is cherry with walnut rim. 5" X 2 1/2", oil finish. The candleholder is soft maple about 3" tall. I'm inspired by Southwest design, and have objects of that all over my home. This piece was designed after a small ceramic pot that my wife bought, and I thought it would make a nice wood turning. I like it, though I think the neck is a bit too wide. It's finished with sealer and 3 coats of lacquer.

The candleholder looks amazing, as does the bowl. I like the different wood rim! Great job!

I like both. The walnut on the bowl is a nice touch and the wood tea light looks great. Well done.

Ron, I like these pieces. Both of them. The walnut rim on the bowl really sets it off. And the spalting of the candle holder and the SW form of the piece is awesome.
I have a question for you: Is the candle holder hollow all the way, or is it just deep enough for the tealite?
Both of them are well done.

Nice work on both pieces Ron! Really like the form of the bowl and the way the walnut rim curves in towards the opening! I also like the way you turned it end-grain! Very nice work!

The candleholder is beautiful! Love the wood and all of it's colors! Southwestern pottery styles have always been one of my favorites amd I can see a flavor of that in the candleholder. Again, nice work!

Now that you have our interests peaked - looking forward to seeing some more of your work!

I'm with Steve, I really like the end grain orientation on the cherry bowl - and the color in that candleholder is fantastic.

Nice job on both of them.

Thank you all for your kind comments. To answer a couple of questions; I drilled just deep enough for the candle - no need to hollow and the extra weight makes the piece more stable, and yes, my wife does indeed use these.
