I just got a steel city drill press this weekend and the lasor guide. It appears that once you set it up and move the tray up or down or put in a different size piece of wood the X is off. Am I missing something here? If that is true this thing is pretty useless because I can't readjust it for evey piece of wood I drill, kind of defeats the purpose. Besides it is a pin to adjust I already stripped one of the allen heads.

Make sure you read the instructions carefully. I didn't the first time and missed the part about using the scribe line on the alignment pin to line the laser lines up vertically before adjusting the position of the X. What you are describing sounds like what happens when you don't.

AHHHH! That could be it. Sounds logical, thanks I even did read the instructions and missed that. Thank you.

Just curious, does the task light that came with it need a little "Viagra"?

I definitely agree with George. That light is very "limp"

Same here. I'm pretty dissapointed in that actually as the external light was one of plusses for me. My Harbor Freight light I have on my bandsaw is better :(.

Part of the problem is the angle they mount it at. You need to bend it to an unnatural angle.

Maybe the light was designed to provide a raking angle...:D That could explain why it likes to "rest" on the workpiece or table.
