From a 8/4 slab mill cutoff I scored from the craigslist freebies last summer - most of the haul was spalted (mostly rotted) maple, but there were two pieces of walnut in the mix. All of it had been laying in the weeds for a couple of years - and in pretty rough shape. (And then I let it lay around inside the garage until something bigger than the Rikon came around).

This is the first Mustard-sized project I've completed.... :D

About 17" diameter, Rockler Gel Poly and Beall buffed. LOML wouldn't allow me to use this for my first texturing attempt.

I left as many of the 'imperfections' (cracks, worms tracks) in as possible and I think I like the bottom better..... I really wish I had more than one piece like this left :(.

Looks great. Sure wouldn't want to risk this one to the texturing tool, but more will come (let's see 'em when they do)!
