I Just put epoxy on the throat plate set screws on the table saw and then set the throat plate to the correct height. I am thinking it will be the last time I have to do this.
Was it a good idea or a bad one?

Why not just use Loctite?

I second the use of Loctite. It will allow you to remove them relatively easily but will hold the screws in place very well. A drop is all you need.

I had epoxy on hand. I guess I should get some locktite to keep around.

A little silicone caulking also works well & the screws can still be adjusted if needed.

I use a drop of "thin" super glue. If it needs adjusting , with a little heat, it breaks free easier than blue locktite.

I guess i made a permanent adjustment. Hope it was a good one.
