Does anybody know what the price tag might be to replace the bearings in a 10 inch RAS? I don't need a price to the penny, but I'd like an idea to see if it's worth it.

Without knowing the specific facts or your knowledge I have a couple of thoughts.
1. Have you checked the condition of the brushes if the saw has them? That could be the problem
2.The biggest part of the job will be gettig the motor unwired and off the yoke. When I've had to replace bearings in the past I have disaasembled the tool and take the end caps with bearings still attached to a bearing or power transmission specialist. They are better than using oem bearings usually. They can size while you're there and my supplier even presses out the old bearings and installs the new ones for free.

Good Luck.

If the saw has a 5/8" arbor, the overwhelming odds are that it uses 6203 bearings. These can be bought from www.thebigbearingstore.com, or Reid Tools for about $3.00, in quantities of ten. Be sure and get sealed ones.

Yeah, I figured I'd have to get the thing to the repair shop. We have a very good shop here to work on tools. They replaced the bearings in my table router (dedicated router) for a very reasonable price. I called them today and the idiot that answered the phone said he couldn't give me a ball-park price because he didn't know the price of the bearings. I said they were cheap so didn't matter much. he said no they might be over $100. At this point I knew we'd lost touch with one another. Darn, I hate stupidity.
