A friend in Texas sent me a few of the tops. I should have some fun turning these acorns!
Anyone know what oak tree produces these monsters?
No, I didn't cheat and use the neighbors kids, my hands are 32 years old :D

Thanks guys. I turned another from black palm that looks really cool.
I don't know why I am so excited about them. I have turned 200 + "normal" sized ones but for some reason these really get to me. They are HUGE!
Kudos to the person who came up with the idea. I know I got it somewhere.
Thanks

Naw ... thats just from a Texas Live Oak, and from the looks of it, it must be just a sapling. :D:D:D

You need to start selling those over the internet. There's a lady who sells tumbleweed over the internet, so why not giant acorns?

I know water oaks grow big in texas. But, then again, everything is big in texas.

Burr Oak, and it hurts when you get hit in the head with a falling acorn from one of these... just ask my 7 year old.

Burr oak huh? Good to know. Here is another "smaller" one in black palm.
Hey Martin, a quick search and I found tumbleweed selling for $20. Crazy!
Maybe these acorns will take off like the pet rock did in the 70's. Wouldn't that be nice :)

Better get ready to mass-produce! Good work, the finish looks real good.

A friend here in Childress, gave me some acorns with hats that looked just like that one, from what he called a Water Oak. He had a #2 tub full of them, with a lot of leaves and compost on them, and several of them had sprouted. I planted a few, but none of them lived. My black thumb, I guess.
Thanks for posting this. ... Cocobolo seed... indeed! :D
