Hi folks,
The adjusting wheel stud on a Stanley #4 I'm trying to restore has stripped threads. This prevents the adjusting brass wheel from turning freely. Any ideas on how I go about replacing this stud?
thanks,
Mark

Mark,

Depending on type, but most likely you have a type >5 which means that the threads are left handed on that post. If they are right handed, would you sell it?;)

So that said, it is just screwed in, so in this case you "tighten" it to remove it. Since it is already messed up you can just use vise grips and twist it carefully so as to not mess the frog (remember in this case righty=loosy).

Hope this helps.

You can try using a heli-coil.
