The video on the jointer/planer combo from Jet sure does make it look real nice. Tom Hintz makes it look like a real nice machine.

I saw one at Toolking looked interesting. I have never seen a jointer with beds that have that wavy pattern ground into them.

I wasn't impressed with the newly uncrated one I saw and tried out at the local store. Make sure you try one and get a good look before you buy, or I'm afraid that you would be disappointed as I was.

Fit and finish, general sturdiness, table flatness, power, fence construction. Just be sure to look these over well before you plunk down your hard-earned cash. I ended up taking home a used 20" planer that I was way more impressed with, and a good sized jointer may or may not be in the cards soon. I just couldn't see spending the money they wanted for that.
