Hi all-

Here is a mantelpiece recently completed. This fireplace was a bit awkward - open on 3 sides, front opening is 50" across, sides 36". The mantel is hard maple/maple ply, the overmantel and flanking bookcases are poplar, painted. The sunlight and shadows in this photo are making the finish look much different than it does in person. I will try to take some more pics - still have to float the ceiling at the crown. Finish is dye/shellac/gel glaze/poly.

Thanks for looking, have a blessed day.

Matthew, I like that a lot! Looks like it fits the room very well! How about taking a picture of more of the room when you take that next set? I'd be interested to see it with the rest of the room.

Matt, that mantle looks great. I like the design. It goes well with all the other molding in the room.

I really like that Matthew! It adds a very strong anchor point for that room.

My mantel is white painted standard production issue stuff, and ya know, until now I really hadnt considered pulling it off and replacing it.
