Well I tried one out of lacewood or leopard wood, don't remember which and I can't tell the difference. Can't photograph too well either as pics are a little dark and don't show the shine. My first attempt at a CA and BLO finish which I really like.

The pen looks very nice, the dark wood seems to enhance the gold trim.

I agree. The dark wood does bring out the design in the gold. I also like the BLO CA finish. So shiny!
