I have recently acquired three large white oak logs (up to 36” diameter) located in Gaithersburg, MD near Washington DC. The sawyer I have used on other jobs has a problem with these large logs and I am wondering if any Creekers know of a sawmill located near DC that will do custom sawing and can handle large logs. I can haul the logs so I do not need a portable mill but that would be an option.

There's a menonite guy down here in St. Marys county. He's got no phone. But, you can PM me if you're interested. He's got a massive circular saw mill that can probably take care of your logs, but I can ask for sure if you're interested. The wood comes out a little rougher than from a bandsaw mill, but he seems to do a good job. I'm not sure about special sawing instructions as I didn't give him any. He charges 15 cents a BF. He's around on Saturday mornings, but I'm not sure his hours otherwise.
