Was just trying to clean my computer monitor with bad results. Using Windex on a soft cloth all I got for my troubles was a screen full of streak marks. So I was just wondering what others use to clean their computer monitors.

I use a sunglass cleaning kit I got from Sunglass Hut when I bought some shades.

I bought a Monster kit for cleaning LCDs at Best Buy. It is expensive at almost $20, but it is better than wrecking a good screen. My LCD monitor has some scratches from using other stuff first. Luckily, the scratches are not visible unless you look for them.

Seems like Monster always has Monster price tags, but at least their stuff is good.

Buy the cleaning cloths made for LCD screens. Dont clean them like regular glass, you can mess them up.

You can buy the cloths (disposable) at WalMart, Circuit City, Office Depot etc.

Oh, I also use the Monster screen cleaner. It was expensive, but it seems to be lasting forever. I've had a bottle for 3 years now and it's still over 3/4 full. It sprays a fine mist.

Use distilled water and dry wipes made for optical cleaning (make sure OK with plastic) If too dusty, I would use some canned air and blow it off first. Use the water, then lightly rub with the cloths. Then use more cloths to dry. Simple and cheaper than using Monster. If you MUST use something stronger, just a try some DILUTE mild dish soap in the distilled water, then rinse well. If all else fails, i might try some white vinegar (I would test the screen first in a corner or something).
