Here is a coffee table I just finished making. The top is made from 5/4 quartersawn white oak, the legs aprox 3/4" thick are steam bent from air dried white oak, and the shelf is a bent lamination out of 1/16" white oak construction veneers. The finish is danish oil.

Credit for the photo goes to Jim Dugan in camden maine.

Just kidding very nice work. Would be nice to see a larger pic to see the real features of the piece.

I've never seen the term "construction veneers" before. What does that mean?

The veneers are 1/16" thick as oppsed to standard 1/32" commercial veneerers. The term construction applys to the fact they are thicker therefore requiring fewer laminations making them more sutible for thick laminations

Very nice design/proportions. Were you inspired by snoeshoes? a sled or both? What did you use (if any) for a jig to form the laminated curves?

Great work!!

The inspiration for the asymmetry of the curves came from an arts and crafts chair.

The shelf was pressed in a vacuum bag with a single form made from partical board ribs, with a skin made from 3/8" bending ply.

The steam bent legs, all one piece were bent arround a solid form made from MDF.
