A plane by Bailey no.4 pat'd Mar 25, 02, Aug. 15,02 and Apr.19,10 are stamped on the back of plane in front of rear handle.

any history to this?

Stanley No.4 plane made by the Stanley Rule and Level Co. out of New Brittain Connecticut. It is a smoother used for final planing before finish. Either type 11 or type 12 depending on the size of the adjuster nut, what it says on the blade, and the height of the frong knob. Type 11 made from 1910-1918 and type 12 made from 1919-1924.
