Nope.

Just makes it a Hybrid with a 3 HP motor.

Well.....it'll definitely equal a saw with a 3hp motor, with a full cabinet and cabinet mounted trunnions! :D I suppose it's a matter of symmantics, but the popular definition of a true cabinet saw pretty much describes the industrial style saws like a Unisaw, PM66, General 350, Steel City 35621, or Griz 1023, etc....they all have a full cabinet, 3hp+ motor, and massive industrial grade underpinnings....it's the industrial grade construction that really sets them apart.

Steel City has done exactly what you propose with some of their hybrids....model 35605, 35610, and 35675, which are essentially their base 35601 hybrid with 3hp motors (the fence and options differentiate the models). The notable difference between a suped up hybrid and an industrial cabinet saw is the trunnion structure.

Here's a peek at the trunnions from Steel City's industrial cabinet saws (35621, etc):

Here's a peek at the trunnions from a Griz 1023 (similar to those of the 35621, Uni, General, etc):

In comparison, here's a look at the trunnions from hybrid with cab mounted trunnions (22124, 35601, etc):

Note the difference in the design, pulleys, arbor bracket, cast swing arm vs connecting rods, and overall robustness.
