Has anyone ever tried this jig for cutting crown molding?

yup, it works pretty well except after watching the gary katz dvd no crown molding, i've realized that it's perfectly appropriate to just miter the cuts and dispense with the coping. if you're going to use them, you need to have a long table to support the stock and give you somethign to clamp the jig to.

I just learned that Easy Copy only works on inside corners - guess I'll have to cut them the old fashion way!

Only inside corners require coping.

I was hoping it would make the outside cuts too - but I guess not

I got it to cut some really large crown. Never worked well, ended up doing it by hand using my bosch jigsaw with a very thin blade. In my book, a waste of money. I have done narrower crown and baseboard as well without it.

If you want a semi-automated tool to cope look at this site.

You would have to make a heck of alot of copes to make it pay. Unfortunatly never could justify the purchase. First saw Tom Silva use it on This Old House, Tom has all the toys.
