I made a couple of the toothpick holders for my wife right after I got the Wood magazine. After seeing the two posted here I'm keeping that dog on the porch. Those are both very nice and beyond my skill level.
I am going to be brave enough to post a take off from that idea. Hey, when you're a beginner you have to take an idea wherever you can get it.
This box is from willow oak with a walnut finial. Willow oak is often mistakenly called pin oak around here. The conventional wisdom is that it's useless. I saw some occasionally for stacking blocks. Noticed some that had been around for a few years weren't checked or cracked like they usually are so I decided to turn something out of it.
