I have a cheap HF indicator with the standard pointed tip. It works fine on the TS for blade to miter slot adjustment. However, it is not very good for use on my jointer - the tip slides off the cutter edge too easily.

I have seen fancy indicators with broad 'mushroom' tips that would work better on the jointer. I see the tip is screwed to the shaft with I would guess is a 4-40 thread.

Does anyone know of a source for the tip?

Yea, you can buy a whole set for short money. The threads are basically standardized...4-48 or something like that.;)

I have a set from ENCO, but you can just screw the cone shaped tip off, and use the end of the shaft. As the shaft isn't hardened, don't slide it along the knives.
