WOOD's Tootpick Holder

After seeing the Toothpick holders here, BTW very nice looking guys. I went out and bought the March 2008 issue in order to make a few myself.
However I noticed in their WOOD online Vid they actually use a clear acrylic 1/4" dowel, I liked the look of that and was wondering if something like that could be bought at the BORGS or Hobby Lobby, and what would I ask for?
I did not see a source for it in the artical.

I've seen the acrylic dowels at Hobby Lobby... but I don't recall the cost... I noticed that too and will try to find the dowels on my wifes next HL run :)

I have only been in Hobby Lobby a couple of times to pick up some markers.
I will go and ask if they have them.
I did pick up some Oak dowel rods at Menards so I can give one a try soon.
