I'm on Lee Valley's mailing list and today I got their latest email newsletter. There's a very interesting article about this young kid who made a bicycle completely from only wood and glue for his school project. I wish it went into more detail but it's still a good story. I'd also love to hear about how it rides and how it has held up to the stresses of riding it. The chain and rear hub are pretty cool. I doubt that the bike would survive very long if it were actually used but it's still really impressive to see so much skill and determination from a 16 year old. Actually, this would be a challenging project for someone of any age. I thought some of you might be interested in reading the story and commenting on it.

Maybe more practical than wood and actually a fine ride.

Craig Calfee built the some of the first carbon fiber frame sets used by Greg Lamond to win the Tour.
