Since I have Direct TV sattelite I have not been able to find "The New Yankee Workshop" can someone direct me. It may be on a channel that I don't get? If there are other shows I would be interested.
Thanks!

HGTV carries NYW on Saturday and Sunday mornings....VERY early in your neck of the woods. (8a ET) Those are older shows...no newer than 3 years. Otherwise, you'll need to both get your local PBS channel(s) off the air or through sat subscription and hope that they offer the show. There used to be a "PBSU" station on either Dish or DirectTV, but PBS discontinued it about a year or two ago.

Mark, I have DirecTv, and as Jim said, NYW is carried on HGTV for old shows and on PBS for new ones. I get my local (with PBS) through DirecTv as well (I think it's $4.95 a month extra). It beats using an off-air antenna.

As for other shows, if you get DIY (it's on one of their expanded packages) there is Woodworks with David Marks. Very different approach than that of Norm. He has his own collection of big tools, including a HUGE jointer and a multi-router he uses for M&T joints. He regularly uses a vacuum press too.

Mark, why would you want to watch the "New Yankee" Workshop when you have the "Old Rebel" Workshop right here !!

I used to tape David Marks' DIY Woodworks show early Saturday mornings, like about 4 AM, but for several months now I haven't seen it on the schedule on HGTV. He had some pretty class projects, used some exotic woods, and has a very well-equipped shop. He uses router templates quite a bit, and a vacuum press.
By the way, if you're looking for Norm on PBS this month, he will be a little scarcer, because it's Pledge time for a couple of weeks on most PBS stations. I don't know whether that will affect satellite carriage, but you might keep it in mind.

I don't recall when DM is on, but I think he's early in the morning an on Saturday evenings. I TIVO Norm and DM, so I don't have to track times and never miss an episode. Now if only I had some way to store the eposides I wanted to keep long term... If you're able to get TIVO I'd highly recommend it.

Any other WW shows in the Norm or DM class out there?

Try Sunday at 1 pm, Monday at 8:30 pm, Tuesday at 7 and 7:30 am, Thursday at 7:30 am, and Saturday at 9:30 pm and 12:30 am on DIY for David Marks. (all times eastern)
