Help on Bunk bed ideas

My LOML has a friend who wants a bunk bed built with drawers down on the bottom. Anybody out there have any plans or ideas on this?.. I know bunk beds have to be built to code and all. Any input is appreciated.

My dad built a bunk bed when my brother and I were younger. The upper was a box made of melamine particle board, just big enough for a twin mattress. One end rested in metal brackets that were lagged into studs. The other side rested on a simple melamine shelving unit. Ladder going up, and a cross rail on the front. Pretty simple stuff. I've also seen a design where instead of a ladder, there are stairs and each riser contains a drawer. Here's an example:

Visit Ikea. Take notes. You can even get the hardware at the service counter. Ikea is full of stuff like that, and they design it so it uses minimal hardware but works.
