Uh what about the fish?? As a fisherman I protest:)

There is a lake here in Missouri that was clear cut before it was filled. That was in the 30's and it took about 25yrs before the people and conservation department realized that our forefathers had made a big mistake. Fisheries need cover to grow a healthy fish population.

Now each dock and most of the coves are filled with limbs and old X-mas trees each year. The bass and crappie fishing is as good as it gets.

It is a cool link though.

It's got to be a pretty limited market. How many submerged forests are there?? Most reservoirs I've seen, they clear cut most of the timber before flooding them and I would think the enviromentalists would scream really loud if you flooded an area just to harvest trees underwater. What would you do with the limbs and trees that are water logged?

I don't think I'll be adding one to my must have tools list!

If you read the whole article it explains how many there are... Billions of dollars worth perfectly preserved because of the water temp at that depth... It's claimed to be an environmentally friendly source. Hence the hype

...........What would you do with the limbs and trees that are water logged?.......

You'd be surprised: there is a thriving business in recovering underwater timber, some of it for some very high-quality wood. For instance: logs that sunk 100 or more years ago - think old-forest - along the shores of Lake Superior while they were being floated to mills, or in log ponds at mills.
