Hello,

I am saving up money to buy a Drum sander. I am trying to decide between these 2 sanders:

Delta 31-255X 18" X 36' Open Drum Sander

Or

Jet Performax 16"-32" Plus open ended sander.

Both of these are at the max of my budget $975. I've been watching Craig's list Cleveland finding nothing. What are your thoughts, any experience with either? Thanks

Joe

If you are going to spend around a grand, look for the 22-44. Otherwise, keep looking and get which ever one you can find used for a lot less money. I got a delta for 400 with paper used in beautiful shape thanks to my brother that lives up in Northern NJ.

Why not try a Want To Buy ad in Craigslist. I'll bet there's someone in Cleveland who has a drum sander that doesn't get used much and could use $500 or so....

Just missed the 22-44 for $999 with a stand, Rockler has it for $1099 with out the open stand, just got the 22-44 and it works very nice, but its heavy enough if you have to move it a stand on wheels is needed.

I just picked up a used Delta 31-252. I love it, but.....

The table adjust up and down unlike the motor moving up and down on the Performax.

This makes it much more difficult to create in and outfeed support.

For reasons known only to them, Dleta has already discontinued the infeed/outfeed table for this series of sanders, including the 255.

I've searched high and low on the internet and calling by phone and can't find a set. I'd look elsewhere.
