How to use Tape jig

Hi all;
Please pardon for my dumb question, but I am very frustrated with this task.
I try to tape cut the table leg which is 4x4 stock. I could not get it cut straight. Somehow I couuld not hold the tape jig tight to the table saw fence
guider. Any suggestions

Can you post a pic pf the Taper Jig? It may help to clarify the situation.
