Hello all,
I have reached a critical point in the construction of my router table.
Should I use the run of the mill, plain Jane off the shelf table insert or should I have a custom insert made to my standards? Another ?
What features would you have or would change about yours?

I was thinking thick aluminum plate with aluminum reducing rings instead of plastic. Any suggestions would be appreciated

My suggestion would be to get an insert from woodpeck.com. The Al inserts they have are great. Another bonus, if you someday want to upgrade to one of their lift mechanisms, it will drop into the same hole.

No affiliation.

What Jay said. I have the PRL (precision router lift) and it holds a PC7518 motor (I purchased the motor only). I couldn't be happier. This is a rock solid insert.
