Got this burl in a coast to coast wood trade...
Dry Manzanita is harder than my head, but I kept sharpening my tools till I got 'er done.
The opening STARTED OUT much smaller, but I drilled through dust, and it just kept dissolving back to where it is now.
Diameter: 6 1/4 inches
Height: 3 1/4 inches
Sanded to 2000, LIGHT oil only.

it continually amazes me how the most ragged pieces of wood "turn" into the most beautiful pieces.
great work!

I think we should call you georgous George. Every time you post something it's georgous, no exception this time. Great job.

Great piece George. One of these days I am going to try my first hollow form but out of something not quite so delicate.

I have heard that as well. There was some dusty punk on the top that clearly didn't hold and some surprising empty pockets, but no rocks, but MAN that stuff is HARD!
