I did some more plaques for the bamboo people, paint filled using acrylic latex sprayed with mini HVLP gun.

I asked them to send me samples of their bamboo veneer, and have glued up a sign with it to see how it works. So far so good, it cut beautifully and didn't warp before clamping like some woods when glued down. It's 1/42, took me two passes to engrave out for it but probably could have done it in one with different settings. I'll post it when done if it turns out.

That really does look brilliant Joe. Certainly no signs of burning, I'd leave your settings alone, it's done a fine job. I tried a small piece of bamboo myself and it holds the engraving very well.

I decided to use bamboo veneer the same color as the plaque, because the grain is so visible I wanted to try doing the letters with the grain going the other direction and see how it looks. I also left a slight gap for an outline effect when cutting the letters/logo.

It needed very little sanding. Shown with 2 coats poly clear satin.

looks swell, and the cross grain idea really works well.
