Doing a glue up for a fairly small shelf out of 2 sheets of 1/2" baltic birch. I'm sure it doesn't matter, but what glue to use? Epoxy or plastic resin? For maximum strength would you avoid a "flexible" glue like contact cement?

This is more for utility than looks, so the glue line showing doesn't matter. Fairly small shelf, 36" x 12", so working time also shouldn't matter much.

'Fraid I'm missin' sompin' here. Why not just plain old TiteBond?

If you're wanting epoxy or plastic resin because this is for exterior use it's the right glue except the glue in the BB ply wont hold up outside. If it's for inside, Titebond will work fine.

I have to ask a few things:

Where's it gonna live?
What sort of joinery are you using?
How much weight will each shelf have on it?
What's the overall use of the thing?

Until those are answered, it's hard to say.

Mostly inside, but may get moved into garage area with heat/humidity. I'll probably just go epoxy since that's what I have on hand. I think all my yellow glues are pretty old and may not be trustworthy.
