Good evening fellow creekers,

I want to make a crib for my daughter's first child. I have been looking at the plan in my new Grizzly catalog. Do any of you have any experiences using these plans????

I built the Heirloom Crib.. plans from Rockler. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=10727

I think it is a beautiful design. I modified mine to be a transitional bed, later to be a childs day-bed, then a full size headboard.

I built this cradle for my son. I searched through many designs and picked this one. You can even order the spindles and knobs if you don't have a lathe. It's very sturdy and you can lock the cradle if you don't want it to rock.

Here are some of the steps I tried to document while building it:

Keep in mind this was my first real furniture project, and second time building anything with wood. The plans are very good. I didn't even know what a mortise and tenon joint was but somehow managed to make the cradle from these plans...and LOTS of help from SMC! :o

Oh and if you don't want to make a custom sized matress, you might want to consider buying one first and altering the dimensions to fit.

If you like this and don't need the hardware, I could mail you the plans.
