I found myself with only a little while to get something chucked up and turned before I turned in for the night tonight. Here is what I came up with. I must confess this addiction isn't going to be a good thing for me in so many different ways!! It is kinda like smoking (I've never smoked but I'm told it to be the case). Once you’re addicted you will forgo all other things/responsibilities for a smoke. I am finding this to be the case for my lathe and me.

This is so much fun!

Let me know what you think.

Thank you all. This is my 3rd bowl but I have been turning pens for a little better than a year. And yes, I do still have all of my fingers. I must admit, however, they are a little sore. They took a beating with this one. I did sustain one cut but that was from my scraper. I was checking the sharpness of the edge and well it was sharper than I thought. :D

There was bark on the flat side but it flew off sometime during the shaping process.

Tim that is a great looking bowl. Love the wood. You have more courage than I would have doing a winged bowl on my third try. Well done.

WOW... that is really a work of art... and I imagine things can get "exciting" real quick with those wings spinning around... I haven't gotten up the nerve to try one of those yet... still working on getting a good "normal" bowl :)

No actually the flat side was once covered with bark. It flew off as I was roughing it out.

It was my intention that my second bowl be a 4 winged bowl but I kept getting tear-out on the top side of the end grain sides (I hope that makes sense). I ended up turning a regular round bowl. Here is a picture of it in the event you didn't see it the first time I posted it.

Wow, I don't know if I'm still ready for a bowl/design like this and I've been turning for about 1 yr. Great job, beautiful form, great piece of wood. You should be very proud of this one.
