Stuck Box Lids

I get this problem fairly often when finishing boxes. Finally found a neat trick to get them unstuck. I use a heavy dental pick around the join with the lathe on. The lid will either pop right off or come off with a little coaxing on a stopped lathe.

Good idea. I've only done a couple boxes, but I can assure you that the lids are extremely loose fitting. I'll stow this tip away in the vault till I stop cutting down rims too far!:rolleyes:

Hey Ben,
When that happens, just turn a ring of Ebony or African Blackwood to fit the lip, CA glue that on, and return to fit the lid, an Artistic eye appealing inlay.;)
