Okay, I'm struggling with a customer's request for a font. It's for an inlay job, so some of the stuff they want, I have denied due to the complexity of the font (you know the fonts that have the vines and flowers all around them). Second round, they picked a font. Nice looking font that I'll have to purchase (no big deal), but they wanted their initials and the font doesn't look right with 3 capital letters on that font.

So I sent 3 suggestions of really nice looking fonts that look good as 3 capital letters in a row. They were nice and curvy fonts.

The response I got back was "can you find something more art deco".

Okay, apparently I hung out with the wrong kids in school because I have no idea what "art deco" means when describing a font. Any one got any ideas what an art deco font would look like?

Maybe here http://www.specialtyfonts.com/deco/index.htm will give you some ideas. Google "art deco fonts".

Clean...lean...artsy stuff....check out the sign on the front of the "Snowdon Theater" under the gallery link...the font is very art deco...but your client may be thinking something else...artsy types...

Got it, we're all set. I think it was Harrington that was the final winner. Thanks for the offer Frank, I think we're all good now.

I've certainly heard of Art Deco before, but just never had anyone tell me a "Art Deco font". Well, I should be honest, it was said "Art Deco-ish" :) It's like saying "Pick me a warm looking font". Huh?

He's happy, so in turn, so am I now :)
